Renault’s Oxygen arrives in the city

Renault Trucks and GEODIS have launched a major real-world testing phase of the electric urban prototype “Oxygen”

GEODIS has initiated an experimentation phase for “Oxygen,” a fully electric truck developed in partnership with Renault Trucks. This prototype, designed for urban delivery, has been tested since September 9, 2024, in Lyon, with initial tests extending to Paris beginning in October. The testing will continue until the end of the year.

This 16-ton vehicle is designed to meet the specific constraints of urban centers while reducing environmental impact. It incorporates several technological innovations, such as a connected cab, a sliding door on the passenger side, and assistance systems utilizing artificial intelligence. These features aim to enhance safety and simplify operations in urban environments.

The goal of this phase is to observe the truck’s performance in real conditions and gather feedback from users, including drivers and fleet managers. This project aligns with current trends as restrictions on urban circulation are accumulating in city centers. The newcomers will be the last served… But at least we can recognize the merit of the two French players, primarily the manufacturer with the diamond logo, for their approach, which is part of a broader effort to decarbonize urban transportation initiated many years ago.
