The new “small” electric truck from Mercedes goes into production
Mercedes-Benz Trucks expands its range of electric trucks with the launch of the series production of the eActros 400.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks began the series production of the eActros 400 at its Wörth-am-Rhein plant in Germany at the beginning of December 2025. This launch is part of the development of a comprehensive range of battery electric trucks, ranging from the eActros 400 to the eActros 600, which has been in series production since late 2024.
The eActros 400 is equipped with two LFP battery packs of 207 kWh each, for a total capacity of 414 kWh. Depending on the configuration and usage, it can cover up to 480 kilometers without recharging in the context of heavy distribution transport. The vehicle has a lower weight than the eActros 600, allowing it to achieve a payload comparable to that of conventional diesel trucks. Fast charging via CCS2 enables a charge from 10 to 80% in approximately 46 minutes.
An expanded eActros range
Production is fully integrated into the existing chain at Wörth, where electric trucks are manufactured alongside diesel models. The plants in Mannheim, Kassel, and Gaggenau supply essential components, such as the electric axle, drive elements, and the front housing, integrating high and low voltage into the former combustion engine space. This organization allows Mercedes-Benz Trucks to quickly adapt production to market demand while maintaining its quality standards.
With the eActros, the German manufacturer strengthens its position in the European heavy electric truck market, where it holds nearly 50% market share as of the third quarter of 2025. The eActros 600, equipped with three battery packs for a range of up to 500 kilometers, is already in use in more than 15 European countries and has been tested over 15,000 kilometers as part of European validation tours.
