China’s expertise in electrified vehicles is confirmed by recent statistics, nearing one million units.
While Europe emphasizes its commitment to drastically reduce CO2 emissions related to automobiles through the rise of electric vehicles, it is clear that China is achieving the most impressive sales figures with these new models. China possesses advanced technological know-how, but also the advantage of producing numerous batteries. More importantly, the exceptional air pollution has led public authorities to promote this mode of transportation.
In December 2022, sales of electrified vehicles reached a new high, increasing by 51.8% year-on-year to 814,000 units, up from 786,000 units in November 2022. These figures were disclosed by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
Specifically, these CAAM figures include battery electric vehicles (BEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and fuel cell vehicles.
