This Toyota Pickup Aims to Save the Planet with Hydrogen

Imagine a Toyota capable of taking you to the ends of the earth, charging your friends’ cars, and providing water.

The Toyota Tacoma H2-Overlander Concept does exactly that. Thanks to its hydrogen-electric technology, it emits only water and moves almost silently across all terrains.

But that’s not all: this concept is a true adventure companion. With its 15 kW power take-off, it can power an off-grid home or charge two electric vehicles at once. Your friends will never be left stranded on the trail.

Designed by Toyota Racing Development (TRD) in California and North Carolina, the Tacoma H2-Overlander combines the power and precision of TRD race cars with hydrogen technology. Its two electric motors develop 547 horsepower, offering instant acceleration and generous torque to overcome any obstacle.

Under the hood, there is a second-generation hydrogen fuel cell, three hydrogen tanks, and a 24.9 kWh battery. Together, they power the front and rear motors, delivering performance and energy regeneration, with four-wheel drive transmission and high-performance TRD suspension to tackle the roughest terrains.

The survivalist touch? The TRD water recovery system. It filters the water produced by the hydrogen fuel cell so it can be used for camping, washing, or cooking. A real bonus for adventurers in remote areas where water is scarce.

On the outside, the pickup shows a rugged style: panels made of recycled carbon fiber, reinforced bumpers, a winch, specialized lighting, and optimized storage for camping gear.
