This new Toyota model will really heat you up

It is well known that Toyota is very involved in the development of new hydrogen mobility solutions, but this sector was not necessarily expected from them.

Toyota, in collaboration with Harvia, the Finnish master of the sauna, unveils a concept that blends Nordic tradition with tomorrow’s technology: the world’s first hydrogen-heated sauna. Yes, a sauna that makes you sweat without harming the planet.

The principle is simple and ingenious. Instead of using wood or electricity, the sauna is equipped with a hydrogen combustion system. The result: zero CO₂ emissions, only gentle heat and steam, for an authentic and sustainable experience. The fire heats the stones evenly, creating an enveloping atmosphere typical of the famous Finnish smoke saunas, but with a futuristic touch.

This new type of sauna will be presented in Jyväskylä (Finland) at the World Sauna Forum in early June, and then during the Finland Rally this summer. An ideal setting, as Jyväskylä is also a major hub for motorsport for Toyota, which is very involved there through its TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team.

Beyond the charming nod, Toyota demonstrates a new facet of its expertise here. Already at the forefront of hydrogen technology development for the mobility of tomorrow – cars, trucks, boats, and much more – the Japanese brand proves that this clean energy can also be part of our daily lives, including during moments of relaxation.

This project embodies an innovative and environmentally friendly vision, reinventing a millennial tradition without sacrificing pleasure. It is also a beautiful nod to the future, where sweating will no longer mean sweating the planet.
