Toyota will provide hydrogen fuel cell modules to replace the diesel engines of 10 buses.
During the conversion of a bus, the diesel engine and transmission located at the front of the vehicle are replaced by a 370 kW electric motor, batteries, and a hydrogen fuel cell module. Through this innovative approach and collaboration, Toyota aims to highlight the flexibility of its fuel cell modules and the potential for converting traditional vehicles into sustainable transportation solutions.
These converted fuel cell buses will transport over 5,000 visitors to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. After the Games, these hydrogen-powered buses will complete their full service cycle, serving public and private clients within the Île-de-France region.
Toyota will supply the hydrogen fuel cell modules to GCK to convert ten used Iveco buses. The first long-distance bus converted using the Toyota fuel cell module was showcased this week at the National Public Transport Meetings (RNTP) in Clermont-Ferrand.
