With Polestar, you plug in and recharge!

Polestar introduces the Plug & Charge feature in its new Polestar 3 SUV to finally simplify charging.

The “Plug & Charge” simply involves plugging into a charging station that automatically identifies the vehicle and its owner and starts the charging process without the need for a card, a QR Code, or any other identification phase. A small detail that can significantly ease the lives of users of rechargeable cars.

Acting like a digital wallet, the car authenticates the user and communicates directly with compatible public chargers, allowing for automated processing and removing the typical steps involved in setting up a charging session. Once at the desired location, customers just have to plug their Polestar 3 into the charging station and let it do its job. Plug & Charge is currently available at over 9,500 high-power charging points, including at some Ionity and Mer stations.

Thanks to this new feature, Polestar 3 drivers no longer need to confirm which individual charger they are connected to and then initiate payment to start the charging session via the Polestar Charge app or any other compatible service such as Chargemap. When Plug & Charge is activated, the car communicates directly with the charger and the payment is processed instantly, eliminating several time-consuming steps from the traditional process.

Available now in the Polestar 3, other Polestar models are expected to benefit from this feature in 2025.
