Virtual queues at Tesla Superchargers?

Tesla has confirmed they are considering introducing virtual queues for the busiest Superchargers.

Tesla announced the imminent deployment of a virtual queue system at certain Supercharger stations within the coming months. If this pilot project proves successful, the system will be extended to more sites.

For several years, many Tesla owners have been requesting the integration of such a solution. Although most Superchargers are rarely saturated, some areas with a high concentration of Tesla vehicles regularly experience congestion. Notably, stations near popular airports or the first Supercharger in Paris within Bercy.

Charge, not war

In these busy locations, it is not uncommon to see a line of 5 to 10 cars waiting to charge. These lines can cause confusion, or even hostility, especially when multiple parallel queues form in the parking lot, making it difficult to identify the next car to plug in. Unfortunately, these situations have already led to altercations between Tesla drivers who consider themselves prioritized over users of other brands.

In response to these issues, Tesla confirmed on their official Tesla Charging X account the introduction of virtual queues starting in the second quarter of 2025 (April to June) at some pilot stations. If feedback is positive, wider deployment could follow later in the year.

The proposed system would inform drivers upon arrival at a saturated station and assign them a virtual spot in the queue. A real-time update would show their position and notify them when a charging spot becomes available, guiding them directly to the designated station. This system aims to reduce tensions, decongest parking areas, and provide a smoother charging experience.
