Charging Giants Join Forces to Counter Tesla

Specialized operators Atlante, Electra, Fastned, and IONITY announce the creation of the Spark Alliance, a direct competitor to Tesla Superchargers.

This unprecedented collaboration among Europe’s leading charging providers aims to simplify electric vehicle charging and accelerate the transition to electric mobility. With over 1,700 stations and 11,000 high-quality charging points across 25 European countries, Spark Alliance becomes the largest public charging network on the continent. Electric vehicle drivers will be able to use their preferred charging app to access the entire network and make payments with ease.

On April 2, 2025, at the Cercle de l’Union Interalliée in Paris, CEOs of Atlante, Electra, Fastned, and IONITY formalized this groundbreaking partnership between European companies dedicated exclusively to EV charging. The main goal of Spark Alliance is to create a unified network that simplifies the user experience and promotes the adoption of electric vehicles.

Simplified and accessible charging

Today, the proliferation of operators, applications, and pricing structures complicates access to public charging. Spark Alliance offers a concrete solution to these issues by enabling drivers to access, charge, and pay without restrictions at all partner stations.

They can use an app from one of the alliance members to connect to any affiliated station, without needing to create new accounts or add additional payment methods. All member apps will display not only their own chargers but also those of partners, thus facilitating access to reliable charging powered 100% by renewable energy.
