Tesla: Card Payments Now Accepted at V4 Superchargers

They are now available in certain countries; the new Tesla V4 Superchargers feature a new payment method: the bank card.

This isn’t the revolution of the year, but this new feature will make it easier for many charging station users. In a tweet posted on the American brand’s UK Twitter account, it reads “We’re unveiling a new Tesla V4 Supercharger with a contactless bank card payment option.”

A Radical Change

Recently, to pay at Tesla charging stations, you had to have a Tesla account (not necessarily a vehicle) which required a payment method to be registered. It will now be possible to pay directly with your bank card at the Tesla charger without needing a Tesla account. Contactless payment is, of course, available, making the process easier when charging your vehicle.

Last March, the new supercharger appeared in the Netherlands. An additional advantage is the length of the charging cable. Some users found the cable length too short to charge a vehicle from a different manufacturer. To address this issue, Tesla extended the cable to allow more users to charge their vehicles at the new superchargers.

Much Greater Power

For its new superchargers, Tesla announced some time ago a significant improvement in charging power. 600 kW could be achieved compared to the previous version’s 250 kW. This means faster charging times, along with a reduction in prices at Tesla charging stations in France.
