The elected officials of Montpellier Metropolis have approved free charging for electric cars for residents of 31 municipalities.
This is not the first time Montpellier has promoted such virtuous initiatives, as this decision complements the total free access to public transportation.
The French company E-Totem has been chosen to install 600 charging stations throughout the Metropolis, as well as around one hundred charging points for electric bikes. The future stations to be installed in the second half of 2024 will offer two types of chargers, E-City for less powerful options (eco mode charging of 3 kW and normal mode charging from 7.4 to 22 kW) and E-Fast for higher power (50 kW and 100-150 kW). It should be noted that the free charging will be reserved for metropolitan residents who will use a dedicated app, M’Ticket. Finally, only the 3 kW charging mode will be covered by this initiative.
