The race to reach 100,000 charging stations is accelerating in France. Avere France reports 5,519 new charging points in February 2023 compared to January. This is the largest monthly growth since the start of installations.
And there have been 8,696 new plugs since the beginning of the year. Speaking of charger types, slow charging stations dominated in February. Unsurprising, as they are cheaper to deploy and cause less battery degradation. However, fast charging stations saw a surge in February. With 1,677 stations delivering over 150 kW, motorway areas especially benefited from them, via Fastned, Ionity, Tesla or Electra. Additionally, 137 new stations over 350 kW have been recorded, preparing for the arrival of high-power electric vehicles.

Reliability of stations slightly declining
As usual, Avere France’s barometer indicates the availability rate of stations. It has slightly dipped compared to January, with 84% for slow AC charging points (versus 86%). Fast charging stations are keeping pace, with 81% (versus 83%) and 77% (versus 78%) for those delivering over 350 kW at maximum.
