Bioethanol Boxes: The €500 Subsidy Extended in Île-de-France

During this period of expensive fuel, bioethanol is a solution to drive cheaper. Good news, the Île-de-France region is extending the €500 subsidy until the end of 2022.

The Bioethanol is based on plant-based raw materials and its environmental impact is less problematic than Unleaded Super. This argument convinced public authorities to lower the tax on bioethanol, allowing this “green” fuel to be sold at about €0.70/liter, compared to more than double for Super 95.

While models equipped with a standard E85 bioethanol kit are still rare (except for Ford, Land Rover and Jaguar), installing a homologated electronic E85 conversion device is currently very popular. However, this process can be quite expensive depending on the model (from €800 to €1600). Fortunately, some regions like Île-de-France have offered a helping hand since this summer, with a grant of €500 to finance the purchase and installation of the device that allows a petrol vehicle to run on ethanol, thus benefiting from a two-year warranty on all parts in contact with the fuel, as well as a specific guarantee in case of police inspection.

An Additional Deadline to Equip with Bioethanol

Residents of Île-de-France have until December 31, 2023, to benefit from this aid, provided they have their main residence in Île-de-France, own their vehicle, and use an approved installer. This subsidy can only be granted once per tax household. To apply, you must register on the Île-de-France Region website.

The region’s goal is to install 30,000 devices by the end of 2023, representing a budget of €15 million in aid.
