Volvo EX30 Cross Country: the future best-seller!

The already very appealing compact electric SUV Volvo EX30 will add a dose of sex appeal in its upcoming Cross Country trim.

Our lives need a escape, even if it’s just for the commute to the office. Doing so behind the wheel of a small SUV with a rugged style is the little touch of daring and eccentricity that our lives lack. Also, by imagining turning its EX30 into a machine built for wide-open spaces, Volvo hits the bullseye.

From a marketing perspective, the Sino-Swedish manufacturer has been making a strong impact in recent months. After accepting Tesla’s challenge in the price war (the EX30 is available from 32,500 euros, after bonus!), they’ve now done what Tesla is incapable of: a fun-tuned vehicle. Tesla prefers the unnecessary with the Cybertruck, a machine that will appeal to a niche of Instagrammers craving confidence.

But what do we already know about the absolutely charming-looking EX30 Cross Country? Its commercial launch is expected at the end of the year, with the first deliveries in 2024.

With its exclusive and rugged approach – the Cross Country trim has historically overseen Volvo’s ranges – this EX30 is likely to be limited to its four-wheel-drive configuration. The issue is, it already offers 428 horsepower for a price of €49,250 in the Plus version. In Ultra trim, it rises to €52,200, and both are excluded from the ecological bonus.

It therefore seems certain that this EX30 Cross Country will come at a premium for its playful features… unless Volvo’s current marketing geniuses, knowing all this, break the traditional rules once again. A two-wheel-drive Cross Country would satisfy everyone. And upon closer inspection, the aesthetic modifications are few and inexpensive: raised suspension, studded tires, reinforced wheels and side skirts. The most essential accessory is the roof rack. Fingers crossed! The wait won’t be long now.
