How low will BYD lower its prices in France?

The BYD Atto 3 SUV is experiencing a new evolution in China and, most notably, another decrease in its price thanks to productivity gains.

Across all industries, increased production leads to lower costs and therefore lower prices. In China, where the shift to electric vehicles is much more advanced than in Europe, prices continue to decline. Competition is fierce, and manufacturers have no choice but to cut their margins.

Volumes are very high, and technology is becoming slightly cheaper every day. As proof, BYD has announced an update to its electric SUV ATTO 3. And to everyone’s surprise, the price has dropped by 2,047 euros (16,000 yuan), starting at 15,332 euros (119,800 yuan). By way of comparison, in France, the ATTO 3 is priced from 37,990 euros, more than double!

Transport costs from China, along with the VAT difference (13% in China), and sales force in Europe are not enough to explain this gap. No, BYD has a massive margin on each car sold. The day the Chinese manufacturer decides to go on the offensive, prices will plummet. Can the traditional European automakers keep up?

What other new features?

To be comprehensive, the Chinese version offers two battery sizes: 50 or 60 kWh, with unchanged power of 150 kW (204 hp). This difference can affect the price, as only the 60 kWh version is imported to Europe. In China, this configuration starts at 129,800 yuan… that’s 16,600 euros! And in its full-option trim, the BYD ATTO 3 tops out at 18,900 euros (147,800 yuan).

The new BYD ATTO 3 in China introduces an AI-powered voice assistant, as well as a new heat pump to optimize range.

Finally, a last piece of news: the prices of ALL electric models from BYD have also been reduced to compete with internal combustion engine vehicles. The world’s most polluting country is seriously trying to improve its image.
