XPENG P7+

Xpeng presents the P7, a very beautiful car, well-equipped, at a price that defies all competition. But not for us!

Unfortunately, despite the European ambitions discussed during our meetings with Xpeng officials at the last Motor Show, there is very little chance that the P7 will be marketed in France. The reason is simple: the market for large electric sedans remains limited to a few hundred units per year there. Too bad, because Xpeng seemed to have found the perfect formula with this P7: a modern and aggressive design, honest technical specifications, and a price that defies all competition.

Officially unveiled during Xpeng AI Day in Guangzhou, the P7 has an initial price of 186,800 yuan (about 24,000 euros), which is 11% less than its pre-sale price. A numbered limited series of 500 units, offered at 28,800 euros, crowns this announcement. However, being one of the first owners will not confer any special status, as Xpeng strives to keep prices attractive to appeal to customers.

When it doesn’t fit into the boxes…

With its generous dimensions (5,056 mm long, 1,937 mm wide, 1,512 mm high) and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, the P7 offers a spacious and well-thought-out interior. The 180° reclining front seats, rear passenger screen, and large trunk make it a sedan decidedly focused on comfort.

On the technical side, the entry-level version features a 60.7 kWh LFP battery with an estimated range of 500 km, soon to be increased via OTA update. A 76.3 kWh battery is also planned. The fast charging allows going from 0 to 80% in 20 minutes, a standard in the market. Two motor options are offered: 245 hp (0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds) and 310 hp (5.9 seconds). No explosive performance, but a balanced compromise.

Having admired it a few days ago during the manufacturer’s back-to-school press conference, we can confirm that its design is undeniably successful. But its lines, no matter how beautiful, will not appeal in France. While Tesla shines with its spectacular figures, Xpeng has bet on a formidable value-for-money ratio, and that’s probably what will appeal the most.
