This ROBOCAR is smarter than a Tesla

JiYue, the high-tech brand of the Geely Group, has launched its first electric AI-powered ROBOCAR on the Chinese market.

The JiYue 01 ROBOCAR was developed through a combination of Geely automotive technologies and cutting-edge Chinese software technologies from the Baidu consortium.

This ultra-aerodynamic SUV with a Cd of 0.249 measures 4,853 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,611 mm in height. Its record-breaking wheelbase of 3,000 mm provides passengers with high-end interior space within the segment. The cabin was designed around a futuristic high-tech aesthetic where most physical buttons are eliminated, encouraging users to control vehicle functions via the artificial intelligence interface, SIMO.

SIMO can vocally communicate as naturally as possible with its users and manage almost all vehicle functions. It is a true road partner that can accompany drivers and passengers, executing commands, giving directions, or even… offering its opinion!

Because SIMO is capable of handling complex scenarios both inside and outside the vehicle. It can manage four-way simultaneous conversations, analyze voice, gestures, and visual cues to enhance user customization. SIMO relies on Baidu’s integrated AI system Ernie Bot, allowing it to continually grow and develop logical reasoning and strategic planning capabilities.

An intelligent ROBOCAR, but above all, a car

The JiYue 01 ROBOCAR is offered in single or dual motor versions. The Max Performance version with two motors and four intelligent all-wheel drive systems provides 400 kW of instant power in two- or four-wheel drive modes, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Two battery options are available, 71.4 kWh and 100 kWh, offering an estimated range of 420 or 600 km. With fast charging, the battery can reach 80% in less than 30 minutes.

As a cherry on top of the Chinese innovation, the ROBOCAR comes standard with an autonomous valet feature available on 90% of Chinese highways and in 3 urban cities—Hangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai. The car can autonomously change lanes, overtake, perform on-ramp and off-ramp maneuvers, avoid obstacles across multiple lanes, identify pedestrian crossings and traffic lights… It even knows when to yield to pedestrians. Once this feature is approved by authorities, the manufacturer plans to expand it to over 200 cities starting in 2024.

Deliveries of the JiYue 01 ROBOCAR have already begun on the Chinese market, and while no export plans have been announced, Geely assures it is not closing the borders to its charming toy.
