The Electric Range Rover Approaching
The first 100% electric vehicle from the venerable Range Rover brand continues its road tests.
The Range Rover Electric aims to offer performance comparable to that of a V8 Range Rover as well as off-road capabilities that have been the hallmark of the prestigious British brand since its creation in 1970.

Prototype testing is underway, with engineers focused solely on creating the quietest and most refined Range Rover ever designed, featuring a unique active noise cancellation system, careful attention to sound ambiance, and a high level of cabin comfort.

After a year of virtual development focusing on the robustness of the front axle as well as the analysis of multi-body systems that take into account chassis requirements and water fording up to 50 km/h, the first physical vehicles have been produced. Road testing has begun, from Sweden to Dubai, with temperatures ranging from -40°C to +50°C. The global testing program has been adapted for Range Rover’s first fully electric vehicle to ensure the robustness of the electric drivetrain system, including under the floor, battery durability, chassis integrity, and dynamic vehicle tests to protect systems in high temperatures.

The new Range Rover Electric will be developed and produced in the UK, on the flexible longitudinal modular architecture (MLA) at Solihull, alongside the existing mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles of the brand. For the first time, batteries and EDU units will be built and assembled at JLR’s new electric propulsion manufacturing center in Wolverhampton, UK.
