Sales: Peugeot E-2008 from €32,480 (+ free charging station)

Thanks to related discounts from the bonus and various markdowns, the Peugeot E-2008 is more affordable than ever in France. A good deal, though?

It’s not easy to stay attractive nowadays on the electric vehicle market, as the offerings explode and prices fall. Yesterday’s truth isn’t the same today. Consumers need to navigate this turbulent sea where waves from China or the United States can sometimes be fierce.

MG is slashing prices in France, and Tesla recently trimmed its Model Y SUV to under €38,000 (bonus included). Even more so with the arrival of the E-3008 at very similar prices. Consequently, the entire layer cake of electric cars needs to reevaluate its structure. A Peugeot E-2008 over €40,000 makes no sense. That’s why it benefits from a welcome repositioning. But is that enough?

E-2008, a good deal?

Let’s bypass the question: yes, the Peugeot E-2008 is an excellent electric car. Once that’s said, that doesn’t mean much. Because the answer is ultimately much more complex.

Firstly, it should be compared to its rivals. A Renault Scenic is still sold at an even lower price and offers better performance. An MG ZS EV is even more affordable, although less stylish and rewarding inside. But if your primary concern is price to switch to electric, there’s no contest.

Next, beware of Peugeot: its catalog always contains TWO E-2008 models. The “old” one, with a 50 kWh battery and a 100 kW (136 hp) motor, and the “new” one with 54 kWh and 115 kW (156 hp). The offer we’re presenting here concerns the “old” model, which costs about €1,000 less than the “new” one. If your financial effort allows, go straight for the latter, which is much more enjoyable daily.

The former, with a list price of €39,250, benefits from various discounts: €1170 on Peugeot’s online Store, €600 with the code “LION_Store”, and a home charging station valued at €540 excluding VAT (€648 including VAT). Installation costs are not included, so be aware.

In the end, with the bonus, the price drops to €32,480. Not cheap for a car whose range will be at best 346 km. More realistically, count on about 300 km. That’s quite expensive for an everyday car.

Mobiwisy’s opinion

As a model nearing the end of its life, the “old E-2008” still seems too expensive to us. Its newer version, only slightly cheaper, offers 60 km more range—an insignificant detail, though it makes all the difference. Not to mention the increased pleasure of having more power.

Finally, be aware that units of the new E-2008 are available in the list of immediately available vehicles… at an even more competitive price. Discounted to €37,190, subtract the €600 “Lion_Store” code, the €5,000 bonus, and add the free charging station, and it comes to €31,590. That makes more sense.
