Volkswagen ID. électrique

We know, the current Volkswagen electric lineup has no future. Is it therefore time for some great promotions?

A common factor in this wave of discounts across all Volkswagen electric models is the Life Max trim. It has allowed the ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5, all eligible for the Eco Bonus, to offer a more attractive entry-level price and has attempted to position the large ID.7 in the race against competing sedans.

Thanks to a Volkswagen Eco bonus of 4,000 euros, the ID.3 Pure Life Max (52 kWh / 125 kW) now features an appealing starting price of 28,490 euros after deducting the maximum Eco Bonus of 4,000 euros. Even with the basic bonus of 200 euros, this price remains quite interesting for a car that has no major flaws, aside from a problematic early career due to completely unrealistic pricing.

For the ID.4 Pro Life Max and ID.5 Pro Life Max, both with a 77 kWh / 210 kW configuration, Volkswagen’s discount increases to 6,000 euros for the ID.4 and 7,500 euros for the ID.5. Despite this, the latter remains particularly expensive at 40,000 euros after a 4,000 euro bonus deduction. The German brand might have been better off ignoring it altogether, focusing instead on the ID.4, which at less than 35,000 euros could have a strong competitive edge. But oh well…

Volkswagen on tiptoes

The case of the ID.7 reflects a completely nonsensical approach by the German manufacturer to electric vehicles, with prices disconnected from the real world. With a €10,000 customer benefit, it is offered at €49,990 in Pro Life Max trim, with the same technical specs of 77 kWh / 210 kW as its ID.4 and ID.5 counterparts. The effort is commendable, but the price remains far too high.

It’s clear that Volkswagen is mainly clearing out stock to make way for hybrids, which are currently popular, and to prepare for the arrival of the second generation of affordable electric vehicles. But to truly clear the parking lots, much better deals will be needed.
