Lotus unveils an Eletre Carbon priced at $230,000 in the USA

Lotus unveils a Carbon Eletre version of its large electric SUV and a luxury customization service in North America.

After a historic commercial year in 2023, Lotus seems to be facing tough times in 2024. Sales are down, and heavy investments to anticipate the future are hitting the finances hard.

To regain attention, what better way than to create buzz with a special and exclusive series? The idea: “not many people buy the Eletre, let’s make it even more exclusive!”. We exaggerate, but it’s uncertain that the commercial logic that works for Ferrari or Porsche is relevant for Lotus at this time.

Regardless, let’s return to the news with this “Carbon” version of the large Anglo-Chinese electric SUV offered for the North American market. To create it, Lotus chose the most powerful technical specification with a maximum power of 675 kW, or 905 horsepower. Useful for accelerating to 100 km/h in 2.95 seconds. Unfortunately, this behemoth consumes a lot of energy to travel more than 500 km.

Black, it’s black!

Contrary to what its name might suggest, this Lotus Eletre Carbon does not have a lightweight body. Only a few elements here and there. It’s a pity, as it could have benefited from a significant weight reduction. The interest is purely aesthetic with a black shade that may not be to everyone’s taste. Lamborghini buyers might be tempted… This Lotus Eletre Carbon is also equipped with 10-piston carbon ceramic brakes and a new satin black paint finish, exclusive to this version.

Inside, there are new personalized touches, including new leather options: black, light gray, and dark brown, provided by the prestigious manufacturer Bridge of Weir, ensuring a luxurious and eco-friendly interior.

Designed specifically for the American and Canadian markets, the Eletre Carbon offers extensive customization through the new Lotus Chapman Bespoke service, allowing customers to order fully personalized vehicles with unique finishes and bespoke options.

As for the price, one will need to shell out a minimum of $229,900, or approximately €208,000. The first deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2025.
