Lotus Emeya recharge

After building its legend on style and power, Lotus is now celebrating another asset: recharge speed.

Lotus has announced a new record for its electric hyper-GT Emeya. The model achieved a charging power of 443 kW at a public charging station, surpassing its previous performance and confirming its place among the fastest electric vehicles to recharge on the market. The test, conducted independently by Lotus Al Ghanim, the official dealer of the brand in Kuwait, used a 450 kW ultra-fast DC charger provided by Lotus. The Emeya successfully utilized nearly the full capacity of the equipment, going from 10 to 80% battery in 13 minutes and 35 seconds.

The test took place under intense heat conditions, highlighting the robustness of the battery-charger system. For Lotus, this demonstration confirms the relevance of the technological choices made. In a very modern speech, the manufacturer expresses the desire to “future-proof” its electric models so that they remain efficient as charging infrastructures evolve.

Lotus thinks about the future

The Emeya features a “cell-to-pack” architecture, allowing for approximately 20% more cells to be integrated at an equivalent volume compared to a traditional modular structure. Lotus pairs this with a new cooling system designed to optimize thermal management and overall efficiency of the battery pack. All of this is supported by an 800-volt electrical system, now a high-end standard for fast charging, already present in the Eletre SUV.

With a claimed WLTC consumption of 18.7 kWh/100 km, the Emeya can recover up to 310 km of range in just ten minutes. The 2026 model offers a WLTP range of up to 610 km.

Beyond raw performance, Lotus is also focusing on an integrated charging ecosystem. The Lotus Cars app and the onboard Lotus HyperOS system provide intelligent guidance to public charging stations, taking into account real-time consumption. The automaker has also begun deploying its 450 kW chargers in Europe, starting in Germany.
