Last Chance Lease Offer for the CUPRA Born?

Cupra Born

CUPRA has managed to make three versions of its 100% electric Born eligible for the government Social Leasing scheme.

This week, we analyzed the pricing positioning of the CUPRA Born to deduce… that it could not, in its current state, compete with more modern and especially much cheaper alternatives!

Redesigned version of the Volkswagen ID.3, the CUPRA Born starts at €44,600. Once the €5,000 eco bonus is applied, the price drops below €40,000 (€39,600), but it’s still desperately too expensive compared to a Tesla Model Y, which is more refined, well-equipped, and offers better performance and range at €37,990. The Volkswagen ID.3, on the other hand, starts at €34,990 after the bonus deduction, with the same technical specifications as the Born V. It features a rear-mounted 150 kW (204 hp) motor and a 58 kWh battery (434 km range in mixed cycle).

This entry-level version is given a new boost through Social Leasing. Be aware, this does not mean transforming a car that is struggling commercially and is a best-seller overnight, but if you are looking for an unusual car and something quite uncommon, why not? The Born is available for long-term rental, without a down payment, starting at €109 per month for 37 months and up to 40,000 km maximum. At €119 monthly, you can opt for the VZ 230 hp motor, and at €139 per month, you gain more autonomy with the XL battery offering up to 550 km as promised in WLTP cycle.

This scheme allows for narrowing the price gap with the Volkswagen ID.3 also offered at €109 per month. Consequently, the battle for the survival of these sister models will be interesting to follow, as both the Born and ID.3 are nearing the end of their lifecycle.
