Zeekr X

It wasn’t expected so soon, but the Chinese manufacturer Zeekr has apparently accelerated its plans to deliver its first X models before the end of the year.

A first shipment of Zeekr X has thus set sail from China, heading towards Sweden. An acceleration of the delivery schedule that is not insignificant. Next December 15th, the French government will implement a new method for calculating the Ecological Bonus. At the same time, the European Commission has launched an investigation into the overly generous public subsidies enjoyed by Chinese manufacturers. All of this is, of course, aimed at countering the Asian offensive in Europe and giving a little boost to local production.

Geely is no longer smiling

With Zeekr, the Chinese group Geely now has a sixth brand in Europe: Volvo, LEVC, Lynk&Co, Polestar, Smart, and now Zeekr.

The Zeekr X is the cousin of the Volvo EX30 and the Smart #1 and #3, because all three vehicles share the same technical platform. It doesn’t take long to see that these three cars are mechanically identical. Only their bodywork and interiors differ in order to appeal to even more tastes and colors. The shared platform is called SEA (Sustainable Electric Architecture), developed by the Chinese giant GEELY, which owns all three brands.

It’s true that the proportions could have been a clue, as well as the technical specifications: batteries, power, performance… even prices (ultra competitive), everything is identical. We are stronger when we hunt in packs.

Zeekr is rushing

The starting price of the Zeekr X has been confirmed at 44,900 euros in Sweden and the Netherlands, with its rear-wheel-drive version 200 kW / 272 hp and a 69 kWh battery.

This model, unlikely to benefit from the Ecological Bonus in France after December 15th, may still be offered on the French market even if it’s not currently planned… But Zeekr has proven to be responsive!
