The Chinese Zeekr X, with a technical sibling of the Smart #1 and Volvo EX30, reveals its interior. This promising model could be sold in France.

The Chinese Geely definitely has a knack for business and good ideas. After revitalizing and establishing Volvo as a premium brand, the Hangzhou-based group launched the Lynk & Co brand with considerable success (read our review of the Lynk & CO 01).

A new brand called Zeekr is about to debut on the Old Continent. Launched just two years ago, Zeekr positions itself above Lynk & Co, with products aimed at a more upscale market. This is a challenging equation, as Geely must avoid encroaching on Volvo’s territory.

First model planned for the European offensive, the Zeekr X falls into the crossover category, with a look midway between a SUV and a minivan. The size is perfectly suited to our markets, measuring 4.45 meters in length, 1.84 meters in width, and 1.57 meters in height.

A battery and two motors

The Zeekr X is built on Geely’s SEA platform. Like in Smart and Volvo, the battery is expected to have a capacity of 66 kWh, with two motor options: a front-wheel drive version with a single 272 hp electric motor, and a four-wheel drive version with a 428 hp electric motor.

While the exterior style of the Zeekr X isn’t lacking in character, the interior appears more mainstream. Very minimalist, it nonetheless stands out with its large 14-inch multimedia screen and push buttons for unlocking the doors. We’re definitely looking forward to slipping into the sporty seats and admiring the beautiful brightness from the panoramic roof.
