KIA unveils the electric Niro EV

The Niro EV lost its ecological bonus in 2024? No worries, the manufacturer offers you €10,000 until the end of June.

Kia France announces the application of a “Kia Electric Bonus” amounting to €10,000, applicable on the purchase of a 100% electric model from the Niro EV range. The model already had a generous discount of €8,000, but that was getting a bit tight to compete. The offer, valid until June 30, 2024, now reduces the price of the model by more than 20%.

The second generation of the Niro was presented in the form of the Habaniro concept in 2019, before hitting the roads in 2022. More angular in design than its predecessor, the Kia Niro EV boldly features lower headlights than the slim grille, two-tone fenders, and two vertical taillights. With a length of 4.42 m and a width of 1.82 m, it offers excellent habitability and a trunk that benefits from these dimensions with 475 liters. The interior adopts the style inaugurated on the large Kia EV6, with its block at the top of the dashboard including digital gauges and a large central touchscreen. The two-spoke steering wheel is original, and many physical controls remain for the air conditioning, for example. Weighing between 1,757 and 1,814 kg depending on the versions, it’s not a lightweight but it boasts a convincing chassis.

A battery and a drivetrain for the Niro

No hassle when heading to the online configurator, as the model is offered only with a 64 kWh battery paired with a 204 hp (150 kW) motor. It claims an average range that meets the standard, with up to 460 km on the WLTP combined cycle. With its standard 11 kW three-phase on-board charger, battery pre-conditioning, the availability of bi-directional charging V2L (vehicle-to-load) that delivers 3 kW, and even more recycled materials, this model has quickly established itself in the market.

As the most widely distributed model from the Korean brand after its launch, it has been suffering for the past 12 months from Chinese competition and new European models appearing on the market. To give it a little boost, only the discount checkbox remained. Thanks to this aid, the Niro EV range is now accessible from €35,690. A Long-Term Lease of 37 months and 30,000 km is also offered with a first rental of €5,000 and monthly payments of €297.
