Everrati GT40

Everrati, a British company specializing in retrofit, has developed an all-electric GT40. But rest assured purists: it is a replica, not an authentic Ford GT40!

Used to installing electric drivetrains in classic cars, Everrati made an exception for this project. Created from scratch, its GT40 faithfully replicates the look of the original model, but certainly not the technical specifications. The V8 disappears in favor of an electric motor delivering about 800 hp and 800 Nm of torque. A comfortable power that allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 4 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 125 mph (200 km/h).

Like the Renault Megane e-Tech, and the Alpine A110 e-Ternité, Everrati’s GT40 features a 60 kWh battery. It offers an estimated range of 125 miles, or 200 km.

An Electric GT40 That Mimics the Sound of a V8

To make the driving experience more exciting, Everrati equipped its car with a gearbox. Each gear change causes a brief cut in torque, to recreate the sensations of a conventional transmission. The system is also synchronized with an artificial sound generator, capable of imitating the noise of a V8.

The electric GT40 remains a rear-wheel-drive. The motor is at the back, alongside the battery pack that extends on the sides.

Weighing 1,320 kilograms on the scale, this GT40 replica is about fifty kilos lighter than the original model, despite its heavy battery. Additionally, Everrati claims to have improved the weight distribution: from 38/62 on the 1966 GT40 MKII, it now shifts to 40/60 in the electric replica.

Everrati also offers electric Porsche 911s which, unlike the GT40, are true retrofit cars (meaning vintage 911s fitted with an electric motor replacing the original combustion engine). The conversion, however, is very costly, with a minimum of 200,000 pounds (donor car not included). No price has been publicly disclosed for the GT40.

Everrati claims to have gained solid experience in electrification. The company has also recently opened a new division to support companies interested in entering the retrofit car market.
