Dongfeng Nammi, the future Dacia Spring that doesn’t call itself that?

The Chinese manufacturer, which produced the Dacia Spring for years, has introduced its replacement with still budget-friendly features.

The Dongfeng Nano Box probably doesn’t mean anything to you. It was known here in Europe as the Dacia Spring. Developed and manufactured in China, the best-seller of the Romanian company is paying a high price today for its Asian origins, having lost the ecological bonus in 2024.

The thing with Chinese automakers is that they don’t hide the fact that with or without bonuses, they will always be cheaper than their European counterparts. Shipping costs, customs taxes, or higher VAT, their mastery of the entire value chain of an electric car means they hold all the cards.

Thus, despite its attractive appearance, solid finish, and high-level technical specifications, the new Dongfeng Nammi still features prices that are hard to beat. It measures 4 meters in length and 1.8 meters wide, capable of carrying 5 people. The look is also impressive with LED headlights, a floating roof, and retractable door handles.

Inside, two LCD screens of 5 and 12.8 inches diagonally, along with a sleek, stylish design. Finally, beneath the floor, the battery offers two capacities to choose from: 31 or 42 kWh. It powers an electric motor of 70 kW (95 hp) for ranges according to Chinese homologation cycles from 330 to 430 km. More realistically, in Europe, with an estimated consumption of 13 kW per 100 km, one could expect between 240 and 320 km. Compared to the current Dacia Spring’s 28 kWh, this already marks a significant step forward in range.

And now, the best part: pricing. They start at 74,800 yuan and go up to 104,800 yuan in the highest configuration. That’s roughly 9,650 to 13,500 euros. So, will this be the future Dacia Spring? Likely answer in a few months.
