DarkRebel, CUPRA’s latest provocation

CUPRA continues its offensive in the passion car market with the showcar CUPRA DarkRebel, unveiled during the Volkswagen Group Night before being showcased at the CUPRA stand at the Munich IAA.

The CUPRA Dark Rebel is the first car entirely created within CUPRA’s virtual space. The result is a two-seater sports car, 100% electric, with a diabolical look. A disruptive UFO in the orderly world of electric automobiles. It’s wild, unlikely to see the road, but refreshing.

Over 270,000 configurations from the CUPRA Tribe, including brand ambassadors such as actor Daniel Brühl, unforgettable performer of Niki Lauda in the film Rush, contributed to shaping the design of the showcar CUPRA DarkRebel. Data collected by the online Hyper Configurator was incorporated into the final design of the showcar, which was revealed in its physical version at the Munich IAA.

The beast is beastly and massive, measuring 4.5 meters long, 2.2 meters wide, and 1.3 meters high. The doors of the DarkRebel open to a height of 2.2 meters, giving it the appearance of a diabolical night butterfly. The overall design truly reflects the sporty spirit intended by the contributors.

The CUPRA DarkRebel also challenges the rules of interior design. Upon entering the vehicle, passengers find themselves in an extreme, radical environment that aims to be welcoming but is a bit intimidating, to be honest. So, it’s successful! The key element of this cabin is the central column, with its asymmetrical shapes and sculptural look. Made using the latest metal 3D printing technology, it is placed very close to the driver, almost like ignoring an eventual passenger. The bucket seats are covered in 3D woven fabric and supported by a structure made of transparent crystalline material with copper inserts. The steering wheel combines racing world geometries with gaming interactivity. Playful electric, we want more.
