Here is Tesla’s stupidest accessory!

Don’t damage your brand new Cybertruck, but add a touch of history with a very special sticker.

In 2019, Tesla designer Franz von Holzhausen attempted to prove that the Cybertruck’s windows were shatterproof by throwing a boule of pétanque at the left side window of the pickup. It didn’t withstand it! “Oh My F***ing God (OMFG, which stands for Oh my God),” Elon Musk declared during this memorable and embarrassing incident. “Well, maybe that was a little too much.” The ball didn’t go through the window, but it left a beautiful spiderweb crack on the unfortunate glass.

Tesla decided to capitalize on this embarrassing event by offering a sticker in its online store that mimics the shattered glass pattern for $55 each. The sticker, specially designed to fit the Cybertruck window, sold out quickly, creating a shortage—hence rarity, and thus value. Another clever move by Tesla. The glass apparently doesn’t play a crucial role in visibility from the cabin, so it’s OK, but as for the tastefulness of the accessory…

Von Holzhausen repeated the demonstration during the Tesla Cybertruck Delivery Event on Thursday evening with what appeared to be a baseball.
