Is the electric Ford Puma under 30,000 euros better than the gasoline version?

Ford Puma Gen-E

Outside, little or nothing changes, but under the hood it’s a revolution for the Puma, Ford’s best-selling model in Europe.

A well-born compact urban crossover, the Ford Puma has established itself across Europe thanks to its dynamic, modern design that quickly gained a loyal customer base. From entry-level versions to sporty variants, it has been adapted in many ways, but it lacked an electric version—until now, with the Gen-E. Ford announces a launch price of 33,990 euros and the vehicle normally benefits from the Eco Bonus, which would bring its price below 30,000 euros. But you’ll need to order quickly!!! This early reveal, which surprised us all, seems to suggest just that.

While not revolutionizing the electric vehicle world, the Puma Gen-E offers more than decent performance. Its electric motor accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds and provides a range of up to 376 km on a full charge in the WLTP cycle, or up to 523 km in urban use. The average energy consumption is around 13.1 kWh/100 km, making it one of the most energy-efficient vehicles on the market, and fast charging at 100 kW can go from 10% to 80% in 23 minutes, providing 124 km of range in just 10 minutes. All this for a stress-free daily use and some longer trips without constantly watching the clock.

The interior space sets the Puma Gen-E apart with increased cargo capacity. The trunk volume reaches 523 liters under the load cover and 574 liters up to the roof, surpassing the thermal version. A 43-liter frunk at the front, made possible by the absence of a combustion engine, provides space for accessories or the charging cable, bringing the total storage volume to 566 liters—much better than many larger vehicles.

The exterior design retains the sporty spirit of the Puma EcoBoost, with modifications to improve aerodynamics. A new “shield”-shaped grille, inspired by the Mustang Mach-E, along with a rear spoiler and specific wheels, distinguish a model that could pleasantly surprise if the prices follow suit.
