After the Grenadier, INEOS unveils the Fusilier
If we stick to the military lexicon, INEOS is taking a radical departure with an electric Fusilier.
An INEOS electric vehicle, but not only that! The Fusilier will be equipped with fully electric powertrain systems, but will also offer an extended-range version. The Fusilier will then include a small gasoline engine that powers a generator to maintain the battery charge level when external charging is not available.
The CEO of INEOS, Jim Ratcliffe, stated that the SUV manufacturer’s decision to offer customers a choice was due to the limitations of electric vehicles in certain situations. He said that the range extender provides customers with a low-emission solution without fear of running out of electricity.
INEOS keeps up at its own pace
“If I were given the choice between two electric cars, one with a range extender and one without, I would choose the one with the range extender because then I wouldn’t have range anxiety” Ratcliffe declared during a roundtable Friday at the Grenadier Pub, renamed Fusilier for the occasion. This pub, which Ratcliffe owns, is both his headquarters and communication center. It reverted to the Grenadier just a few hours after the press conference, a sign of the flamboyant INEOS boss’s attachment to his big thermal SUV!

INEOS plans an annual production of 40,000 to 50,000 units, with a 50-50 mix of fully electric and range extender powertrains. Jim Ratcliffe stated that the starting price of the Fusilier would be below 100,000 euros, and INEOS expects target buyers to be younger than the average Grenadier customers, most of whom are in their fifties.
The 100% electric versions will be delivered starting in 2026, with the range extender model arriving about a year later.
