A Citroën Ami for People with Disabilities
Citroën “Ami for All” offers a specific layout that allows people with reduced mobility to regain autonomy at an affordable cost.
Citroën and PIMAS have joined forces to make travel easier for people with reduced mobility. Unveiled in June 2023, the Citroën “Ami for All” prototype is now available for order.
The door hinge angle has been increased to 90° to allow the customer to place their wheelchair parallel to the threshold of the cabin after opening the driver’s door. Then, to ensure a self-sufficient transfer from the wheelchair into the cabin, a removable and retractable tablet is unfolded. With the help of a strap fixed to the upper part of the interior door frame, the customer moves from their wheelchair to the driver’s seat. The process takes just a few minutes.
Once on board and ready to start, the driver has a ball on the steering wheel ensuring easy grip and takes advantage of the excellent maneuverability of “Ami for All”. Replacing the usual pedal setup of the 6 kW electric motor, an intuitive mechanical lever has been added that simply requires pulling or pushing to manually control the accelerator and brake pedal. It is noteworthy that the pedal setup remains operational.
Simple and Accessible
Once the desired Ami is reserved with the help of their dealer for 3,600 euros, the customer can order a complete package from PIMAS. This package includes the mechanical floor-mounted accelerator/brake combination, the 90° door opening, the retractable transfer board, and the seat storage device. As optional features, they can order an intuitive steering wheel remote control with centralized controls, a specific anti-decubitus cushion in leather, an armrest, a 2 or 3-spoke steering wheel fork, or a reversal of the mechanical floor-mounted accelerator pedal.
The vehicle transformation is carried out in France, and the parts and labor are guaranteed for 2 years. 24/7 assistance is provided for 2 years with Europ Assistance. The package is eligible for the “Disability Compensation Benefit”. The customer can choose to be delivered for free by Citroën at a point of sale or at their home for an additional €200.
