€5,000 to €10,000 Discount on MG4, MG5, and MG Marvel R!
Until the end of March, MG is offering generous electric bonuses on its 100% electric private models without additional incentives.
MG has achieved a remarkable breakthrough in France with three electric models. The MG4 sedan, the MG5 station wagon, and the Marvel R SUV. Three models with appealing looks, impeccable finishes, and above all, offered at unbeatable prices. In a completely crazy automotive market, you need to look good and be good, but most importantly, not be expensive.
Disaster struck on December 15 when these three models lost their generous Ecological Bonus. We wondered for a moment if MG could recover from this sanction, but the Sino-British manufacturer quickly responded with an unbeatable weapon: very generous discounts!
Initially applied broadly at 5,000 euros for all electrified models, this bonus has continuously evolved. Here’s what the manufacturer is offering for March 2024.
Three cars, three atmospheres
Let’s start with the best-seller of 2023, the MG4. It logically receives the smallest discount of 5,000 euros. A sedan with a reasonable size, well below the inflation in dimensions, is what the MG4 has committed to. It measures just under 4.30 meters, precisely 4.29 meters, and offers a good turning radius that allows it to maneuver easily in city traffic and especially park easily. The advantage of the MG4 electric is that it launched with a true range of options, including the famous entry-level Standard 51 kWh version with 170 hp. But there’s also a higher-end model with 204 hp and 250 Nm of torque, equipped with a 64 kWh battery. Paradoxically, the smaller model offers better performance. This is because its weight is about 30 kg lighter, compensating for the lower power, especially since the torque is the same as the 204 hp version. Acceleration is at a high level (0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds), and the vehicle also performs well in rapid acceleration and overtaking.
For the MG5, there is a €7,000 discount. This electric station wagon measures 4.6 meters long, 1.82 meters wide, and 1.52 meters high. It is comparable in size to a Peugeot 308 SW or Renault Mégane Estate. Regarding cargo space, MG states 479 liters with the seats up, and 1,367 liters with the seats folded down. The lines of the MG5 are balanced but some find them lacking flair. Two versions are available in the MG5 range. The first has a 50.3 kWh battery powering a 130 kW motor with 260 Nm of torque. The extended-range version features a 61.1 kWh battery. Torque remains at 280 Nm, but the motor power drops to 115 kW, with no significant impact on performance. Regardless of the version, the Chinese electric wagon accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 185 km/h.
The Marvel R offers an even better deal with €10,000 off, nearly a quarter of its price. This applies only to certain new cars already in stock. The MG Marvel R is a well-built electric SUV. It is 4.67 meters long, 1.92 meters wide, and 1.62 meters tall, with a 2.8-meter wheelbase. The SUV’s trunk has a capacity of 357 liters, which can be expanded to 1,396 liters when the rear seats are folded down. With a three-motor setup, the Marvel R belongs to the very exclusive club of tri-motor models. In its all-wheel-drive configuration, it produces 212 kW (288 hp) and up to 665 Nm of torque. This allows it to reach a top speed of 200 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The Marvel R is also available in rear-wheel-drive version, with two electric motors on the rear axle producing 180 horsepower. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in this configuration takes longer (7.9 seconds), but it still reaches a top speed of 200 km/h. The claimed WLTP combined cycle range for the MG Marvel R is 400 km; in reality, it is closer to 370 km on a single charge.
