The Chery Group opens a Research & Development center in Paris to design the new generation OMODA & JAECOO

Located in the heart of Paris, this new R&D center of the Chery Group will be tasked with designing the next generation of B-segment city cars, one of the strategic pillars of the European market. The idea is simple yet ambitious: to create compact models perfectly suited for urban and suburban life in Europe, considering from the very first sketch the real expectations of drivers, safety requirements, and regulations unique to each country.

This project fits into a well-established global strategy. The Chery Group currently relies on six research and development centers spread across the globe: three in China, one in Europe, one in Latin America, and one in North America. In Europe, everything has been based since 2018 at the site in Raunheim, near Frankfurt. This center, which already employs several dozen engineers and designers, has just expanded its facilities to support the growth of the brand.

Chery wants to capitalize on European expertise

The future Paris center will work closely with German teams to ensure perfect technical and stylistic coherence while strengthening the local adaptation of vehicles. Because for Chery, it is clear: to attract Europeans, you must understand them from within.

The choice of France is no coincidence. The B-segment is particularly important there, especially in large cities and their surroundings, and the country boasts an exceptional automotive ecosystem: recognized testing centers, regulatory experts, and talents in design and innovation. The new center will also be located very close to the French headquarters of OMODA & JAECOO, in La Défense, for even stronger synergy.
