BMW M4 CS, my dream daily driver?
Halfway between competition and road performance, the new BMW M4 CS will be offered in a limited series in France.
With only 74 units available for France, the BMW M4 CS should have no trouble selling. It positions itself in BMW’s M sporty range between the new BMW M4 Competition M xDrive Coupé, which is already quite impressive, and the formidable BMW M4 CSL special edition produced in a limited 1,000 units. The M4 CS is meant to fully express itself in everyday driving as well as on the circuit.
A good BMW branded with M is primarily characterized by a six-cylinder inline engine. The one in the M4 CS is coupled with the M Steptronic eight-speed transmission, delivering all its power to the asphalt thanks to the intelligent M xDrive all-wheel drive system. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, but this isn’t its most interesting feature. It is a true track car in a tailored suit, as shown by its lap time of 7’21″989 recorded during testing on the 21 km Nordschleife of the Nürburgring.

The new BMW M4 CS comes standard with M Composite brakes, with calipers available in red or black by choice. The M Carbon ceramic brake calipers, available as an option, can be painted in red or matte gold. The new BMW M4 CS is also equipped as standard with lightweight forged alloy wheels with an exclusive V-spoke design, available in matte bronze or matte black. The lightweight wheels (19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear) are fitted with racing tires as standard to maximize circuit performance.

But without lightness, power is useless. The use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic components has allowed for maximum weight reduction on the BMW M4 CS. The carbon fiber roof is an excellent example, its low weight bringing the car’s center of gravity closer to the road, thus enhancing agility and cornering dynamics. The hood, front splitter, front air intakes, external mirror shells, rear diffuser, and Gurney-type rear wing are also made from this lightweight, high-tech material.

The BMW curved display features M-specific readouts and is oriented toward the driver, helping them focus on the road. The instrumentation consists of a 12.3-inch information screen located behind the steering wheel and a 14.9-inch control screen. The familiar M shift indicators appear at the top of the information screen, while the vehicle stability system, M xDrive mode, and traction control are all displayed at the bottom of the screen. Special widgets containing information about the current vehicle setup, as well as tire pressure and temperature, can be added to the home screens of the control display.
