5 Million Cars and Jobs Created in Valenciennes by Toyota

Toyota 5M TMMF

Toyota Motor has produced 5 million vehicles since the start of its plant in Onnaing, near Valenciennes, on January 30, 2001.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing France (TMMF), the production site for Yaris and Yaris Cross, began operations on January 31, 2001. The site produces 1,200 vehicles/day, 100% hybrids, for the European market and currently employs 5,000 staff. As the only Toyota manufacturing site in France, it became the leading car manufacturing site in the country in 2022.

TMMF celebrated this week reaching the milestone of 5 million vehicles produced. This 5 millionth Yaris is a Yaris Cross, specially dressed by the painting workshop teams with an original design from Toyota’s European design center, based in Sophia Antipolis (06). A unique model proudly showcasing a tricolor paint job that, frankly, looks pretty good!
In the presence of the Minister Delegate for Industry, Marc Ferracci, 200 guests attended to celebrate this true collective success and to see this unique “made in France” Yaris Cross.

But as good news rarely comes alone, TMMF announced on this occasion the signing of 600 permanent contracts, including 100 by the end of the year. The commercial success of Yaris and Yaris Cross ensures job stability within the company. The 1,000 employees currently on fixed-term contracts or temporary work will be the main source of this recruitment.
