Tesla launches an educational website on autonomy

Tesla is clearly ramping up the staging of its vision for autonomous driving with the launch of an information website.

NotATeslaApp noted that Tesla quietly launched a new website dedicated to its Robotaxi service a few days ago. A specific goal, to simply explain how autonomy works and prepare the general public for its large-scale arrival.

This educational platform arrives at a key moment. In Austin, Texas, the first Cybercabs have been spotted, and driverless robotaxis are already operating in designated areas. The site now features a Get Started section and a support space detailing how the service works: operating hours, steps to book a ride, onboard rules, and passenger experience. Tesla aims to reassure and normalize a service still perceived as experimental by a portion of the public.

For once, Tesla is being discreet

While awaiting the Cybercab, a vehicle designed exclusively for autonomy, Tesla is currently relying on the Model Y to carry out its Robotaxi trips. Users must download the dedicated app to access the service in Austin or sign up to be notified when robotaxis are available in their area. This gradual approach is consistent with Tesla’s usual strategy, which prefers phased rollouts over immediate global launches.

Accessibility is also highlighted. Tesla claims it wants to build an inclusive autonomous future that meets the needs of people with reduced mobility and users accompanied by assistance animals. While not all solutions are operational yet, some wheelchairs and equipment are already accommodated in the current fleet. Ultimately, Elon Musk has confirmed that the Robovan will play a central role in fully addressing these issues.
