Polestar 2 MY 2022

The Polestar 2 benefits from small technical improvements. It’s mainly the entry-level version that evolves.

Just over two years after its launch, the Polestar 2 receives an update. The changes made have improved the range of the base version of the vehicle.

The Polestar 2 Standard Range Single Motor now gains 35 km of range compared to the previous model year. Now, a full charge allows for in theory up to 474 km (WLTP cycle). Another improvement to note is the increased maximum charging power, now reaching 130 kW. Finally, the motor gains a few horsepower: it goes from 224 to 231 horsepower. All these enhancements were achieved thanks to a new battery chemistry, which increases its capacity to 69 kWh (+8 kWh).

A More Efficient Heat Pump

In parallel, Polestar has modified the heat pump included in the Plus Pack. The result: an improved optimal temperature range, now between -7 °C and 25 °C. The advanced cabin filter and particulate sensor are also said to be more effective, according to Polestar. Furthermore, the software performance update, which increases power to 476 hp, is now included in the Performance Pack.

The facelift also brings a series of aesthetic updates, although no body parts have been retouched. Polestar introduces new colors and discontinues others. A new Nappa leather upholstery and a dashboard finish called “Light Ash Decoration” also appear. The optional 19 and 20-inch wheels have been redesigned.

The infotainment system has not changed with this update.

Alongside this, Polestar is cultivating its brand image by announcing that the battery mica will now be better traced through blockchain technology. Additionally, the aluminum used for the aluminum tray supporting the battery will be exclusively supplied by foundries using renewable energy. According to Polestar’s calculations (which are inevitably difficult to verify), this will result in a reduction of 750 kg of CO2 per car.

The Polestar 2 Still Not Available in France

In its cheapest configuration, the Polestar 2 costs €47,900… in Belgium. It is impossible to provide a French price, simply because there isn’t one. In a legal dispute with Citroën over a logo issue, Polestar has yet to establish itself in France.
