With Noil, the indestructible Peugeot 103 becomes electric
The magic of retrofit!
There is a lot of talk about retrofitting cars, but it is also possible to convert a thermal two-wheeler into an electric vehicle. Noil, a company based in the Paris region, offers, for example, an electrification kit for a true icon of mopeds: the Peugeot 103!
Once converted to electric, the 103 still reaches a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Thanks to a 1.4 kWh battery, it can cover between 45 and 60 km between charges. A sufficient range for urban trips, and which aligns with current standards in the small electric two-wheeler sector. For example, a Niu NQi Sport is credited with a range of 55 km with a single battery configuration.
The small 1.4 kW electric motor is placed in the middle of the frame, where the 2-stroke single-cylinder engine used to be. The battery, meanwhile, is attached to the luggage rack. Removable, it charges in about 4.5 hours.

Retrofitting a Peugeot 103 is not feasible if the moped has a collectible registration card. The operation costs €1,999, but the national aid of €1,100 granted for this type of conversion significantly reduces the cost.
For those who do not have a “donor” vehicle, Noil also offers 103s that it has acquired itself—and of course, converted—upfront. The price for the complete vehicle is €2,999.
A 103 admitted in ZFE
Certainly, retrofitting a 103 involves a significant financial effort, but the lower operating costs will help offset the operation at least partly in the long run. This is especially true today, with a liter of gasoline often exceeding €2. Moreover, retrofit also lifts many circulation restrictions that affect thermal mopeds. It thus becomes possible to navigate the roads of ZFE with your trusty 103!
