X Shore 1: An “affordable” electric boat

With its new X Shore 1, the Swedish expert in electric boats, X Shore, aims to democratize this mode of propulsion, which is much more respectful of the seabed.

“By launching the X Shore 1, X Shore hopes to encourage a new generation of boat owners and show them that electric navigation is not only the future but the present“, declares Jenny Keisu, the company’s director.

The new small model has an attractive base price, with a check of €99,000 before taxes for the entry-level Utility version. Two other trim levels are planned: Performance and Premium. According to the Swedish manufacturer, this price is up to three times lower than that of well-established competitors in the electric boat segment.

To achieve this feat, the team at X Shore developed a small boat measuring 6.5 meters, powered by a single battery. Besides its compact size, the X Shore 1 is expected to have a lighter weight for an electric boat, which should improve its maneuverability and efficiency.

Interesting Performance Features

According to X Shore, sailing for 50 hours on a traditional boat (from six to ten meters long) with a thermal engine is equivalent to seven round trips between New York and Europe by airplane. To drastically reduce this carbon footprint and pollutant emissions into the sea, this boat features a 125 kW electric motor, paired with a 63 kWh battery. The manufacturer claims a range of 50 nautical miles at low speed. The performance are impressive, with a top speed of 30 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots.

Despite its small size, the Swedish electric boat has an interior cabin with a real berth. Depending on your budget, it will be possible to install a chemical toilet, and even air conditioning!
