Pure Electric: Here is the first truly foldable electric scooter

The British brand Pure Electric has unveiled two new electric scooters, including the Advanced Flex that folds lengthwise.

Although an electric scooter is a small object with fewer parts — compared to a bicycle or a scooter — it is full of innovations. And since many devices look similar, all manufacturers are trying to stand out with their little tricks. At Pure Electric, they go to great lengths for the scooter.

The Next-Generation Pure Electric Scooter

“We are driven by a strong ambition to reinvent personal transportation,” says founder and CEO Adam Norris (yes, the father of F1 driver Lando Norris), “and today, we are immensely proud to launch Pure Advance and Pure Advance Flex, a range specially created for people striving to make the most of urban living.”

So, on October 5th, Pure Electric introduced the Advanced, a scooter that rethinks the rider’s position and maneuverability. First, its platform is not just a simple deck where you place one foot in front of the other. The chassis features a central bar, on which the rider places the feet on side supports. The result: a natural and more balanced stance.

The wider foot placement makes the scooter much easier to steer. They are also oriented backward, forcing the body to shift weight forward, thus improving balance. We will test this in our next review! In any case, the brand emphasizes safety, integrating turn signals into the handlebar and also into the footrests.

Foldable stem, handlebar, and frame!

But the eye-catching feature is the folding system. Of course, the Pure Advanced keeps the handlebar foldable backward, like any other electric scooter. But it also allows the two grips to fold downward to reduce width. Finally, and this is a significant innovation, the manufacturer introduces a lengthwise fold on the Advanced Flex version. This has two advantages: reducing storage space and making transportation much easier.

Good news, this does not affect the size of the battery, which is normally housed under the platform. Pure Electric states the capacity at 345 Wh, giving the Advanced Flex a range of 40 kilometers. Regarding the non-lengthwise folding version, it offers two models: Advanced with 40 km range (355 Wh battery) and Advanced+ with a 50 km range (432 Wh). The motor is 500 W or 710 W peak, identical across all models, along with the 10-inch wheel brake system.

What is the price of the foldable Pure Electric scooter?

Pure Electric does not disclose details about its screen, similar to the “Air” models, or its connectivity features. These electric scooters will be available very soon in France, already for pre-order with delivery scheduled for March 2023. Here are the prices for the Pure Advanced, available in two colors: gray or black:
