Fantic Electric: A New Rival for Askoll Scooters

Fantic enters the electric scooter market with a new model that will be offered in both 50cc and 125cc equivalents.
After thermal motorcycles, skateboards, and bicycles, Fantic is venturing into a new market: that of electric motorized two-wheelers. A year after providing an initial preview of what it was developing with a prototype, the Italian company unveiled at EICMA its first factory-series electric scooter: the Fantic Electric.
The minimalist look and the overall design of the vehicle, notably the centrally located motor and large wheels, are reminiscent of Askoll scooters, another company based in Italy. Like these, the Fantic Electric will be available in 50 or 125 cc versions. Regardless of the customer’s choice, the scooter is equipped with a 2.2 kWh battery, with an optional second identical battery that can be added.
The range has not yet been precisely announced, but a dual-battery Fantic Electric model should be able to travel approximately 100 km on a full charge. The motor is connected to the road via a traditional chain. It delivers 3 kW nominal and up to 4 kW peak for both versions. The 125cc Fantic Electric can reach a top speed of 65 km/h, while the 50cc is limited to 45 km/h, in accordance with legislation.

Built around an aluminum beam frame, the Fantic Electric weighs 79 kilograms without the battery (91 kg with it). It features an aluminum swingarm and a telescopic front fork. Braking is provided by disc brakes, 220 mm at the front and 180 mm at the rear.
In terms of features, the scooter includes a hands-free start system, as well as LED lighting. It also has a 5-inch TFT display and a USB port. An app will allow users to remotely control various parameters.
Made in Italy, the Fantic Electric will be available on the market in February 2023. Initially, only the 50cc version will be sold, at a price of €3,990 (excluding any bonuses). The 125cc equivalent Electric will join in May. Its price has not yet been announced.
