The large retail company Lidl continues the deployment of its high-power “e stations” for electric cars, this time in the North.
Electric cars are three to five times cheaper to operate than their gasoline or diesel equivalents. But this does not include fast charging, which is much more expensive at stations than at home. While the kWh is capped at €0.174 (EDF rate), it generally exceeds €0.50 at ultra-fast chargers (more than 150 kW), or even €0.69 at Ionity and €0.98 at Allego. But Lidl aims to keep a minimum price.
A 4th Lidl fast-charging station in the North
On November 21, Lidl proudly opened – well, with large plugs – its first ultra-fast station in Villefranche-sur-Saône (69). This “e station” will not remain alone for long, as two others opened in Landivisiau (29) and Les Pennes-Mirabeau (13).
And already, the fourth has just opened this week. This Lidl charging location is in Tourcoing (59), and can serve up to 12 electric cars at the same time:

- 4 DC charging points at 90 kW
- 5 DC charging points at 180 to 350 kW
Lidl recovers the charging stations from DBT and ABB 360 capable of up to 360 kW of power, similar to Kallista Energy. However, no electric vehicle can reach such figures, the best being the Porsche Taycan with 270 kW (and its sister Audi e-tron GT). The top models could thus recover 350 km of range in 15 minutes according to the retailer.

Known for its attractive store prices, the brand applies the same strategy to electric car charging. They announce a price of €0.25/kWh on 22 kW plugs, and €0.40/kWh for fast chargers. Here is a comparison with other market players in fast charging:
