Renault integrates EcoWatt into its Mobilize Smart Charge charging app. The goal is to inform users when to recharge their vehicle.

EcoWatt is now available on the Mobilize Smart Charge app. Implemented by RTE, the French electricity network operator, the system is a kind of “electricity weather forecast.” It indicates whether the electrical grid is under tension or not, using a simple color code.

A simple color code for EcoWatt users

Renault has just integrated EcoWatt into the algorithm of its app called Mobilize Smart Charge. Mobilize is the group’s brand dedicated to new mobility solutions. The app now considers the risk of power outages to inform users. It follows EcoWatt’s status three days in advance. This allows balancing charging needs with the possibilities offered by the electrical grid, based on the expected voltage. The aim is to optimize the cost of charging. It targets Renault Zoe, Mégane, including the Twingo, and the Kangoo.

Mobilize is the group’s Renault brand dedicated to new mobility solutions. EcoWatt is implemented to prevent overvoltage risks and to anticipate upcoming power cuts on the French electrical grid. For this, a simple color code is used. Green means everything is fine, orange indicates that you should start monitoring your electricity consumption. The app “avoids recharging during orange hours as much as possible, if the mobility settings programmed by the driver allow it“.

Finally, red indicates a high risk of power outage. At this point, the app advises you to recharge as little as possible to maintain some autonomy. It even suggests postponing charging until the situation improves.
