Ultra-fast 400 kW chargers are arriving in Europe

Fastned and EVBox have partnered to install the first 400 kW fast chargers for EVs in Europe.
You may have noticed that the increasing number of electric vehicle models raises concerns about longer queues at charging stations. Additionally, the inevitable growth in battery capacity requires longer charging times with current capabilities, whether at home or at public charging points installed by local authorities, where the power rarely exceeds 22 kW. To such an extent that Ionity stations and Tesla Superchargers are preferred by those undertaking long trips, without doubling their travel times!
Good news for frequent drivers: Fastned and EVBox have installed one of the first 400 kW fast charging stations in Europe. The HPC station, named EVBox Troniq Modular High-Power, is operational at the Fastned De Watering station, located on the A8 motorway near Oostzaan in the Netherlands.
A charge that can be divided in two
According to its designers, the station can recover up to 100 km of range in just three minutes… for compatible vehicles! Similarly, this impressive charging power can be split in two if many vehicles are waiting, providing 200 kW per vehicle.

“We are thrilled to partner with Fastned to jointly install one of the first 400 kW chargers in Europe as part of our Early Adopter program. The 400 kW variant is the next step in the evolution of our family of flexible and scalable Troniq Modular fast chargers. Together, we are paving the way to make high-power charging accessible and to further enhance electric mobility“
Fastned specifies that the focus will be on quality, user experience, ease of maintenance, availability, and data-driven monitoring of the charging points. Fastned has also joined the EVBox Early Adopter Program, a co-creation initiative designed to improve the entire product lifecycle, from installation to end-user operation, enabling continuous improvements based on feedback.
