Will the Zeekr 003 be coming to France soon?

Future rival to the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric and Volkswagen ID.3, the Chinese electric sedan Zeekr 003 is completing its final tests ahead of its upcoming launch.

If you are not yet familiar with the Chinese brand Zeekr, know that the manufacturer is the latest offspring of the Geely galaxy, which already includes several well-known companies such as Volvo, Lotus, Smart, as well as Proton and Lynk & CO.

The Zeekr 003 is expected to appeal especially to the European and French markets, as it features a relatively compact size and targets European flagship sedans. In line with current aesthetic trends for electric vehicles, it sports a quite rounded look, with a very high beltline and headlights placed quite high. As often seen, the glass surfaces are quite limited and are likely to mainly disadvantage rear seat occupants.

Designed by Stefan Sielaff’s team, Director of Design at Geely in Gothenburg, Sweden, the Zeekr 003—still wearing its colorful camouflage—should share components with the current Smart #1 and could measure 4.30 meters in length, 1.83 meters in width, and 1.64 meters in height, subject to last-minute developments.

Power outputs similar to the Smart #1?

Few details have emerged about the technical aspects, but similar to the Smart #1, customers will likely have a choice between several versions, with a single electric motor of 272 hp or an all-wheel-drive version with 428 hp. Based on data from its cousin, there will probably be only one battery option, with a capacity of 66 kWh, but two ranges could be available depending on whether the optional heat pump is selected (440 km) or not (420 km).

Zeekr hopes to sell 140,000 cars in 2023, so it can rely on this promising Zeekr 003, which might well be launched in France at the end of the year. Stay tuned…
