Xpeng P7 2023 Europe

The Chinese manufacturer Xpeng expands its catalog in 4 European countries, with the new large SUV G9 and a 2023 model of the P7 sedan.

It sounds exotic to us French, but the Xpeng brand has already established its presence in Europe for some time. The G3i SUV started in Norway at the end of 2020, before the family sedan P5 joined in 2022. Then three other countries expanded the Chinese manufacturer’s network: Denmark, then Sweden and the Netherlands in February 2022. Xpeng continues its offensive in early 2023, with a redesigned P7 and the new G9.

A very… Model S-like Xpeng P7

It’s hard not to see the inspiration from Tesla Model S in this electric car. The large Xpeng sedan, already on Norwegian roads for two years, even launched a website generously copying the American brand’s layout. With no changes to its design, the P7 continues in Europe with its gull-wing doors and two versions.

One is rear-wheel drive, with the large “Long Range” battery offering 576 km WLTP range. The other is an all-wheel-drive variant boasting 430 hp and 505 km range per charge. The fast charging of the Xpeng P7 reaches up to 175 kW, allowing it to go from 10 to 80% in less than 30 minutes.

The Colossus G9

Large electric SUV launched in China since September, the Xpeng G9 measures 4.90 meters long. It adopts the front end of the P7 but draws inspiration from Range Rovers for its profile, or Mercedes for its very enveloping seats. Its dashboard is modern but perhaps a bit too screen-heavy. It’s unfortunate, because while the small steering wheel is modest, the central touchscreen display is duplicated for the passenger.

Under its body, the G9 lineup includes three models: two rear-wheel-drive versions, Standard and Long Range, and a four-wheel-drive model with 551 hp. The quick charge system is impressive here, reaching up to 300 kW—more than the European reference Porsche Taycan! According to the brand, it should only take 5 minutes to restore 100 km of autonomy. However, it takes much longer to recover the total 570 km range of the 98 kWh large battery.

The Price of Xpeng in Europe

These new P7 and G9 models are only available in four European countries: the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. We provide the prices for our Dutch friends, the only ones paying in euros and closer to us.

The Xpeng P7 starts at €49,990, a small drop compared to the €113,990 – in France – for a Tesla Model S, although the Model 3 Long Range (€52,990) is more its target. The Xpeng G9 SUV is priced at a base of €57,990, more than a Model Y but as much as an BMW iX1. Xpeng also extends a 7-year warranty.
