Ionity - Nouvelles bornes de charge

On the highway of holidays and sunshine, Ionity has decided to introduce two new fast charging stations for your electric vehicle.

Ionity has chosen the commune of Mornas to host two new fast charging stations (350 kW). Mornas Village and Mornas les Adrets are the names of these stations, which will each feature 16 charging points.

These new charging stations thus extend the Ionity network along routes heading south in France. Additionally, these stations are equipped with solar panels on the roof. They help supply electricity to the charging points.

Ionity already operates 120 stations and 576 charging points in France, with future investments planned in this sector.

Fast Charging Stations

Ionity is one of three companies offering so-called “fast” charging stations on French roads. Fastned and Tesla are the competitors. All three provide the ability to charge your hybrid or electric vehicle by plugging into a station.

These fast stations offer charging up to 350 kW, which theoretically can fully charge a battery in about 15 minutes. Fast charging stations are generally DC (direct current) chargers. They convert electricity inside the station rather than in the car, allowing for faster and more consistent charging of the electric vehicle.

Currently, no electric vehicle on the market can be charged at 350 kW without damaging its battery or electrical systems. However, Ionity anticipates rapid developments in the sector. Indeed, the Porsche Taycan has a power of 270 kW, and the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y have an output of 250 kW. It’s only a matter of time before electric cars can be charged at this power. This initiative represents a further step supporting the electric transition.

With these new Ionity stations, travelers can take a break during their journey. Road Safety recommends this to avoid fatigue on the road. A pause is essential to prevent oneself or other road users from being put in danger!
