A start-up founded in 2022 has been operating for five months in the French capital and offers on-demand bicycle transportation with a driver.

During a period of high inflation and reduction of cars in the city center of Paris, the Turtle service offers daily trips by bike with a driver. This service addresses the need to move more efficiently in Paris’s congested neighborhoods. Indeed, these areas are filled with cars, scooters, and all kinds of bicycles.

To this end, Turtle has completed 3,100 trips to date in real-world conditions. The company currently consists of 15 bikes operated by 18 salaried drivers. Turtle trains them to drive these “bike-taxis”.

The two founders, Robin Bourraindeloup and Aymard De Ravignan, are confident in the relevance of their project less than 500 days before the start of the 2024 Olympic Games. They aim to invest to own a fleet of 100 bikes by 2024. Furthermore, their company has already established a partnership with the Paris City Tourism Office. Tourists coming for the 2024 Olympics will be able to travel peacefully.

How does the Turtle service work?

Just like a VTC booking app, you can reserve your trip via the Turtle app on your phone.

The app is quite simple to use and allows you to select a departure and arrival point either through a search function. This can be done by placing the destination point yourself on the map or by searching for it using the “Search” button. However, for now, it seems that the service is limited to the “Paris intra-muros” zone, or the inside of the Paris ring road.

This bike-taxi service thus allows 2 people to travel in a cozy small cabin. The maximum speed is 25 km/h with an electric tricycle that emits no emissions from the front. By using bike lanes like bikes and electric scooters, this service avoids traffic jams and time loss, especially on strike days.

You can pay by credit card via the app or on board the bike-taxi. The service is currently available from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. However, there is no doubt it will develop rapidly in the coming months given its originality. Everything is set to go smoothly on this side before the 2024 Olympic Games!
